"No..." Kaori shakes her head. "I seem to...sure, but I have never seen true beauty. Not after what has happened to me." She hangs her head and leans against the ground, thinking she didn't deserve to see the meteor shower. "I don't think I should ever be allowed to see anything beautiful ever again..." She covered her eyes as a single tear glided down the side of her face.

Slither crouched down beside the girl and placed a hand on her shoulder. She seemed to have experienced even more hurt than he had. "I don't know your past, but I can understand your feelings. And nobody has done anything so evil that beauty is beyond them." He reached out as tenderly as possible, an action quite unnatural to him. "Speak - tell me what happened to you. I've had my own share of sadness - I'll understand."

Kaori shakes her head. "I-I don't know...no one forgave me for what I did. And you, a total stranger who is so kind to me...will not be so kind once I tell you of my past..." she said.

Slither drew back slightly - the girl had obviously commited greater deeds than he had in his past. But he knew from his own past that what is done is done. Only speaking stopped the pain. "I have had a poor past as well. I have not done things that seem to hold the same gravity as your deeds, but I can understand why things in the past do not wish to be told. I won't push you to tell me what you do not wish me to know, but simply understand - holding painful secrets inside is not a cure, but a poison."

Kaori looks up at him. "I..." she starts. "I killed them...all for money. Money! I killed my own parents for money..."
ooc: well, everyone has heard this story before, but they know that it is not her who killed her parents. No one wants to tell her though, because either they are afraid, or they just don't want to. That's in my profile. You can decide whether you know or not.

Slither couldn't help but recoil slightly. She had killed her own parents? The thought of the crime was almost unbelievable. But to have pushed the girl so far and then to abandon her would be almost as cruel - and besides, she was remorseful. "I... I couldn't tell you that I condone what you did. but you must realise - you are not evil. An evil person is one that takes pride in his deeds, while you - you are full of sorrow for what you have done. No, you are not evil - you are a victim. Do you think that your parents would like to see you in such a state of suffering? No, they would rather that you place the past behind you. Continue on."

Kaori looked up at Slither. Why hadn't she left her...? She had underestimated him. He was not afraid, she could tell as much. She smiled her sad smile, but this one was at least a little lit up more than most.
"Thank you..." she whispered.

Her smile was watery but genuine, and it told Slither something - she had been suffering. To bring any amount of joy into her life was worthwhile. The opera of meteors overhead lit up her eyes, and something hit Slither - if the thought of her wasn't marred by her terrible past, she would seem almost angelic. As it stood, she was a tragic beauty.
"No, you shouldn't thank me - I put you through so many memories because I didn't think about your feelings. But atleast... atleast you had the courage to speak about it. It may never leave you, but atleast you can give your parents the tribute of moving on and creating a better life, a better world. You deserve it."

Kaori nodded and a small sigh escaped her lips. At least she had told someone...it was better than keeping it inside, that was for sure. She watched the meteor shower once again. As before, she was entranced by its brilliant colors.
"It is beautiful..." she admit, her eyes glistening with admiration.

The night was becoming colder, and Slither wished for the comfort of the warm indoors.
"I know that the night sky is beautiful, but wouldn't you rather move inside? I'm... I'm not exactly a fan of the cold."

"Ah..yes...it is getting a bit...chilly..." Kaori said. "Yeah, let's..." She stood up and dusted herself off. "Come...let's go."

Slither took one more look at the stars before beginning a slow walk between the crystal trees to the exit. "Where to?" he asked.

Kaori looked at Slither. "Um...well, I don't know..." Kaori said. "Do you know of any place...?"

Slither looked around quickly at the alien garden. "No", he replied, "I'm a complete stranger here, as I am everywhere. I was counting on you to know your way around. But, if not..." He shrugged. "We can always just wander aimlessly."

"Not aimlessly, but I guess we can look for a nice place..." she said. "Sound good to you?"
